Defining Transference and Countertransference

Common forms of positive and negative transference reactions among clients in treatment for gambling disorder

Common forms of positive and negative countertransference reactions experienced by counselors in treating gambling disorders

How to utilize transference and countertransference reactions to facilitate treatment goals

 

Educational Goal(s):

This webinar will explore common positive and negative transference and countertransference reactions that may occur in counseling individuals with gambling disorder.  Ways in which these interpersonal reactions can be recognized and utilized to facilitate treatment objectives will be discussed.

 

Educational Objective(s) :

  1. Participants will be able to define common positive and negative transference reactions clients with gambling disorder may present during treatment
  2. Participants will be able to define common positive and negative countertransference reactions therapists may experience in treating individuals with gambling disorder.
  3. Participants will be able to identify strategies for managing and utilizing transference and countertransference reactions in support of treatment objectives.
