The ASAM Criteria are clinical guidelines developed by the American Society of Addiction Medicine to improve assessment and outcome driven services. The purpose is to use multidimensional assessments to develop client centered service plans and help clinicians in making objective decisions regarding admissions, transfers/discharges, continuing care for a comprehensive range of levels of care for additive disorders. This webinar will consider the dimensions of care and levels of care described within the ASAM framework and how these apply to gambling disorder. Participants will gain an understanding of clinical decision making for clients with gambling disorder to determine treatment intensity and address multidimensional needs.
1. Participants will be able to identify gambling disorder specific symptoms and issues relevant to recommendations regarding treatment intensity
2. Participants will be able to identify gambling disorder specific issues relevant to the ASAM dimensions of care.
3. Participants will be able to utilize ASAM guidelines in making objective decisions, using case examples, regarding appropriate recommendations for level of care
4. Participants will be able to define at least 3 strategies for enhancing existing systems of care to allow for integrating problem gambling capability into a broader range of care levels.
